Why minerals?

Wild parrots obtain essential minerals primarily from natural mineral deposits, but also consume soil, clay, bark, palm nuts and snail shells.

At the Manu River mineral deposit in Peru, parrots selectively eat areas containing higher concentrations of minerals such as calcium, zinc, sodium and magnesium. MANU is inspired by this remarkable natural behavior and brings mineral enrichment into the companion-bird environment.
